Cabling & Wiring
Cabling & Wiring
All University telecommunications services such as telephone, internet and cable television are delivered to the end user locations via telecommunications cabling. University ITS maintains and installs telecommunications cabling infrastructure throughout the UConn community.
This service includes both inside-building cabling, as well as between-building (outside plant) cabling for delivery of networked services.
To perform this work, University ITS maintains an annual permit with the University’s Fire Marshal and Building Inspector’s Office, and coordinates work in conjunction with the University’s Asbestos Management Plan.
University ITS also maintains documentation of existing outside plant cabling installations and responds to Call Before You Dig requests for the UConn-Storrs/Depot Campus’s to ensure protection of the University’s networks from excavation damage.
